Senior Business Support Officer (Finance)
The South Australian State Emergency Service (SA SES) is a trusted, highly trained, volunteer-based emergency service that stands ready to protect the South Australian community, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our volunteers put themselves forward in the worst of times, during storm damage, rescues, flood response and they deserve the strongest possible support behind the scenes.
We are seeking a Senior Business Support Officer (BSO) who is not only technically strong in finance with excellent communications skills, but is motivated by purpose, service, and community.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting our volunteers by ensuring the financial systems that underpin their work are accurate, responsive and easy to navigate.
In this role, you will be a key member of the SA SES Finance Team, providing mentoring, advice and practical support to our volunteers, District Officers, Regional Commanders and staff on financial management, policy interpretation and business processes.
You will be a trusted advisor who helps units use their resources effectively, ensuring that every dollar contributes to capability and community protection.
This position has a strong finance focus and is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions including invoices, Visa statements and journals.
You will support the preparation of business plans, assist units to monitor and manage their expenditure and contribute to building financial confidence and consistency across the organisation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the Microsoft suite and financial management platforms (such as MS Financial Reporting, EMS and Basware), with a solid understanding of government accounting standards and Treasurer's Instructions.
Just as importantly, you will bring excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a genuine desire to support our dedicated volunteers and operational teams.
Joining SASES means becoming part of something bigger than finance alone, it means contributing to an organisation that helps South Australians through their toughest moments.
Your work will directly enable our volunteers to do theirs.
