WSE Maryborough Pty Ltd ATF WSE Unit Trust is a family business that operates SPAR Express convenience stores in the Hervey Bay & Maryborough region, and we’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Retail Buyer to join our team and help shape the product range across our takeaway and grocery store offering.

The Role
As our Retail Buyer, you’ll take ownership of sourcing and managing product ranges across our takeaway and grocery categories. You’ll work closely with local and national suppliers to secure the best products at the right price — keeping our shelves stocked, our customers happy, and our margins healthy.
What you’ll be doing:
· Sourcing and selecting products across takeaway food, chilled, fresh, and ambient grocery categories
· Negotiating pricing, terms, and promotional deals with suppliers and food vendors
· Monitoring sales performance, stock levels, and customer demand to optimise the product range
· Identifying trending food products and seasonal opportunities to keep our offering fresh and competitive
· Managing supplier relationships and onboarding new vendors
· Working with store operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth product flow
· Reviewing wastage and markdown data to improve profitability
· Planning and managing in-store promotions, special offers, and seasonal campaigns to drive sales
· Developing and maintaining effective merchandising strategies to maximise product visibility and customer engagement
· Coordinating point-of-sale displays, planograms, and shelf layouts to enhance the shopping experience
· Collaborating with marketing to align promotional activity with advertising and social media campaigns
What We’re Looking For
· Experience in retail buying, promotions planning, or merchandising, promotions planning, or merchandising (grocery, convenience, or food-to-go experience highly desirable)
· Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
· Solid understanding of the takeaway and convenience food market
· Ability to analyse sales data and translate insights into buying and promotional decisions
· Excellent organisational and communication skills
· A genuine passion for food, trends, and delivering value to customers
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or in buying/inventory management systems
· Experience with planograms or merchandising tools is an advantage.
· Formal qualifications in business or management are preferred
