We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy in Perth, delivering a large-scale port infrastructure project. This is a senior technical role, providing discipline leadership and engineering authority to the project. You will play a key role in the design, review, and delivery of complex mechanical and materials handling systems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the technical lead for mechanical engineering activities on a major port infrastructure project
* Lead the design and review of materials handling systems, including conveyors, transfer stations, ship loaders/unloaders, feeders, stackers, and reclaimers
* Provide technical oversight of engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, and drawings
* Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian and international standards, codes, and client requirements
* Interface with civil, structural, electrical, and process disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
* Support constructability reviews, value engineering, and technical risk assessments
* Provide technical input during procurement, vendor evaluation, and tender reviews
About You
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
* Extensive experience in materials handling systems, ideally within ports, bulk materials, mining, or heavy industrial infrastructure
* Proven experience acting as a discipline lead on large materials handling projects
* Strong knowledge of conveyor design, bulk solids handling, and rotating equipment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and stakeholders
* Engineering Consulting or EPC/EPCM background
