The Majors Creek Festival and STA are proud to offer Creatives the opportunity to be part of the Majors Creek Festival, 8-10 November 2024.The STA Artist Bursary is your chance to be a visible part of the 2024 Majors Creek Festival and enjoy one of our region’s premier music and cultural festivals. It is also a fantastic chance to interact, at a grass-roots level, with festival attendees and the “behind-the scenes” crew of the festival.The STA Artist Bursary is open to all creatives who are STA Members*, inclusive of all creative practises, whether you make, sing, perform, write or produce.THE OFFER – The Artists Bursary includes;Entry for the entire festival for the successful Artist/s (up to two people), Friday to Sunday.Camping site for Friday and Saturday evening.Sales opportunity to sell work at the festival retail hubOnline promotional content to highlight your involvement in the festival.Public program to be part of the festival.Exclusive Artist T-shirt to wear while you’re at the Festival (at least of some of the time:)THE ASK – Our Artist Bursary recipients are asked to be visible presence at the festival.Artists are invited to propose an engaging offer for delivery during the festival this might take the form of:Running a workshop (max 120min duration)Street art performanceHolding an inclusive drawing, sketching, painting, sculpting or other making art session during the festivalSetting up an installation of your work. This could be interactive.Other creative, interactive and/or visible activities as suits your practice.*STA Membership is free due to the to the support of the NSW Government through Create NSW and our seven contributing council areas. STA Membership is available to everyone living within our contributing council areas of Goulburn Mulwaree, Hilltops, Queanbeyan Palerang, Upper Lachlan, Wingecarribee, Wollondilly & Yass Valley.Here’s why you should award me the 2023 Artist Bursary to attend the Majors Creek festival, (50 words or less)...I’d like to offer the following to be part of the program for the festival (public program idea)...Online linksImages of your work (if no online links can be provided)I’ve read & agree to the T & C listed below including the terms, code of conduct and WH&SI'm an STA Member (you can join us now it's free & connects you into the STA universe)KEY DATESWed 18 September EOI open a the STA websiteSunday 13 October EOI close (midnight)Monday 14 October Submissions reviewedTuesday 15 October Artists notified of the outcome.Wednesday 16 October Outcome announced in the STA NewsletterFriday 8 – Sunday 10 November – Artist Attendance at the Majors Creek Festival for amazing time and creative inspirationHELPFUL INFOMajors Creek Festival is held on the Majors Creek Rec ground in the beautiful village of Majors Creek in the Queanbeyan Palerang Shire. Majors Creek sits above the Araluan valley and Deua National Park approximately 15 minutes from Braidwood, and 1 hour from Canberra, Goulburn and Bateman’s Bay.The Queanbeyan-Palerang region is the Country of the Ngunnawal and the Walbunja peoples on whose land the Majors Creek Festival happen.It can get cold, it can get windy and it can get hot! Sometimes all of these in one day. Please remember this and prepare for all climates. Make sure you pack for all weather and bring your own water.There is no smoking (of anything, including vaping) allowed on the grounds during the festival, this includes set up prior to the festival.Animals are NOT ALLOWED on any part of the Festival Ground at any time unless they are a registered service animal. Please contact the Festival committee with any questions in relation to this.FRIENDS AND FAMILYThe STA Bursary covers entry and camping for the Artist/s only, you’re welcome to bring others provided they have a valid festival ticket.Extra tickets – to be paid for prior to festival starting. You will be invoiced for these extra tickets and wrist bands will be given out on arrival. Any extra tickets needed will need to be paid for at least 24 hours before the festival starts.Children under 18 may camp for free. Every extra camper over 18 must buy a ticket. Please let us know if you will need extra tickets and how many.T&Cs, Things you need to know before applying…OUTCOMESThe allocation of successful recipient/s for the Artist Bursaries will be made by a panel consisting of STA staff and Majors Creek Festival team members.The panel decision is final.All Artist applications, both successful and unsuccessful will be informed of the outcome.*The STA Region is made up of our seven contributing local government areas of; Goulburn Mulwaree, Hilltops, Queanbeyan-Palerang, Upper Lachlan Shire, Wingecarribee Shire, Wollondilly Shire and Yass Valley.TERMSI agree to abide by the Festival’s Code of Conduct;I agree to carry out role as a bursary recipient according to the expectation outlinedIf I breach the Code of Conduct, I acknowledge that I may be relieved of my bursary and be escorted from the site. Such conduct could affect my future engagement with the Festival.CODE OF CONDUCTArtists are not to be intoxicated during times of public interaction as part of the bursary program, nor are they permitted to consume intoxicants during these times.STA Bursary Artists are to respect the volunteers, performers and team leaders regardless of beliefs, race, gender identity, sexuality, etcSTA Bursary Artists are to conduct themselves in a manner that is approachable and friendlySTA Bursary Artists are encouraged to take their role seriously and be aware of procedures in the event of a concern/issueSTA Bursary Artists are expected to effectively communicate with festival volunteers and team leaders.WORK PLACE HEALTH & SAFETYThe team at Majors Creek Festival highly value the wellbeing of our team, artists, volunteers and contributors. In the interest of harbouring a safe space, the text below will assist you in understanding the responsibilities and expectations while you’re on site. All persons are responsible for taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others.Majors Creek Festival Inc. must make sure you are as safe as possible while you are contributing, but you must:take reasonable care for your own health and safetytake reasonable care to ensure you don’t affect the health and safety of otherscarry out your tasks in a safe wayfollow the reasonable work health and safety instructions given to you by the festival teamco-operate with the reasonable policies and procedures of the organisationEssentially, what is reasonable care would be what a reasonable person would do in the circumstances considering things like:your knowledgeyour roleyour skills and the resources available to youthe information that you haveconsequences to health and safety in the events of a failure to act in the circumstances.Taking reasonable care is not hard. Just do the things outlined above and talk to a festival team member if you have any concerns about your health and safety or that of others in relation to your work.Artists need to be aware that, in addition to looking after their physical wellbeing, bullying is a WHS concern and will not be tolerated. If you are experiencing bullying, or witness bullying behaviour, it is an expectation that you be an active bystander and speak up.If you have any concerns about ANYTHING regarding your physical and mental wellbeing you are advised to contact your team leader.
