Support Worker (Male) – Mental Health Focus
Location: Bendigo Area
About the Role/ Job description
Grace Quality Care is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced male support worker to assist a participant with complex psychosocial disability, including PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
Key Responsibilities
* We are seeking a reliable and trauma-informed Support Worker to support a Male participant in his 50s living in Bendigo.
* Provide in-home support (light cleaning, meal prep, general assistance).
* Assist community access; accompany participant to coffee catch-ups, sports clubs, and op shops.
* Support confidence and social engagement while managing mental health respectfully.
* Follow a participant-led routine.
* Maintain accurate shift notes in line with NDIS reporting and Grace Quality Care's privacy policies.
Essential Attributes
* Must identify as male (participant preference due to past trauma).
* Strong understanding of mental health support, including trauma-informed care and social isolation management.
* Patience, emotional resilience, and excellent interpersonal skills.
* Awareness of participant rights, dignity, and privacy.
* Clear communicator (both verbal and visual cues).
Requirements
* Current Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
* Proof of work rights in Australia (citizenship, residency, or visa with work rights).
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
* Current First Aid and CPR certification.
* COVID-19 vaccination in line with public health requirements.
* Completion of the NDIS Orientation Module (or willingness to complete before starting work).
Desirable
* Experience or qualification in mental health, social work, community services.
* Familiarity with community resources and services in the Dandenong area.
