About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Metropolitan Youth Health - SPACE program team as Youth Health Worker, where you will be responsible for:

* Engaging and supporting young pregnant and parenting people, and vulnerable youth affected by domestic and family violence (DFV), to access and navigate specialised primary health care services.
* Delivering 1:1 and group therapeutic interventions focused on the impacts of DFV and strengthen resilience through a trauma-informed, youth-centred approach.
* Coordinating and evaluating grant-funded programs and partnerships that empower young people and families to manage their health and wellbeing.
* Participating in professional supervision, promoting continuous learning, and contributing to quality improvement and reporting within a multidisciplinary team.
* Fostering a culturally sensitive, safe, and inclusive environment while actively supporting integrated service delivery and positive workplace culture.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Degree or equivalent qualification eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
* Proven experience supporting young pregnant and parenting people, especially those impacted by DFV, from diverse cultural backgrounds and experiencing complex needs.
* Advanced communication and conflict management skills, with ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and foster collaborative relationships.
* Skilled in providing trauma-informed, one-on-one and group therapeutic counselling and psychosocial support within a primary health care framework.
* Ability to lead, mentor, and supervise staff/students and deliver training and quality improvement initiatives.
* Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, youth health issues, domestic and family violence, mandatory reporting, and social determinants affecting young people's health and wellbeing.

About MYH:

* MYH works on prevention, early intervention and youth specialist health response measures regarding adverse childhood events (ACE) and their impact on young people's health, including specialty programs for young parents.
* This position is located at the clinical health service location of MYH South where various grant funded Young Parents support programs are implemented.
* MYH programs at this site focus on building and strengthening safe and positive relationships for all young people accessing our health services with a focus on young parents and their children.
* Building these protective factors improves children and young people's resilience and reduces the impacts of ACEs on their future health and disrupting intergenerational cycles.
