About The Role
Reporting to the Senior Librarian, Student Retention and Operations, this position suits someone who is customer‐focused, adaptable and passionate about supporting learners in an educational environment.
You will deliver high‐quality library and digital support services to students and staff, assisting with access to resources, information literacy and technology. The role contributes to collection management, service improvement initiatives and the overall student experience, while acting as an ambassador for Melbourne Polytechnic.
What You'll Do
* Deliver high‐quality customer service and library support to staff and students
* Provide digital literacy assistance, including support with e‐resources and basic technology troubleshooting
* Support users to locate, access and interpret information and library resources
* Undertake rostered service desk duties across library opening hours, including evenings and weekends
* Contribute to library projects and continuous service improvement initiatives
* Assist with collection management, including resource selection, acquisition and retention
* Promote and support responsible use of information, including copyright awareness
* Maintain effective time management and prioritisation of tasks in a dynamic environment
Essential: What You'll Bring
* Relevant library qualification recognised by ALIA, or progress towards qualification with relevant experience in a library setting
* Demonstrated experience delivering high‐quality customer service to diverse client groups
* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
* Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team‐oriented, customer‐focused environment
* Well‐developed organisational and time management skills
* Digital capability, including ability to learn, support and troubleshoot systems and technologies
* Adaptability, flexibility and a proactive approach to change and continuous improvement
Desirable
* Experience in an academic, public or educational library environment
* Knowledge of copyright and responsible use of information in an academic setting
