About This Opportunity  

The University of Queensland is seeking an experienced General Counsel to lead one of Queensland's largest in-house legal services teams across a truly diverse range of legal matters.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role provides the opportunity to deal with highly topical and relevant issues, across a large breadth of legislation and evolving regulatory requirement. You will regularly engage and advise the University's senior executive team, providing considered and impartial legal guidance to facilitate confident, timely and defensible decision-making. To achieve this, you will be surrounded with a genuinely experienced and high-achieving team of legal specialists.

About You 

You will possess significant senior experience within a large, complex environment, with a demonstrable track record of advising at an executive level. Beyond individual legal expertise, a background of leading and managing large legal teams will be crucial for all-round success in this role. Beyond the dynamic and rapid pace of this role, you will also need to be comfortable working across a large breadth of legislation and a complex, evolving regulatory environment. Finally, an ability to build trust and instil confidence at a senior level in a short space of time is a critical attribute of our General Counsel.
