Your New Role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Technology Infrastructure, the Cloud Engineering Manager is a leadership role focused on guiding the core Cloud Engineering team and supporting Cloud Engineers within the broader technology team. The role ensures strong governance of the Fund's Azure cloud platform, drives workload protection through policies, and maintains and improves the cloud environment with high automation. It supports the delivery of new cloud solutions, advocates pattern-based engineering in a DevSecOps environment with services managed as IaC, and promotes a cloud-native approach to enhance scalability, resilience, and efficiency.
This position requires providing people and technology leadership, aligning with the Fund's processes, standards, and best practices. The role acts as the authority on knowledge, governance, and standards across the cloud practice.
Key duties include but are not limited to:
* Leading and managing the core team of engineers supporting cloud services globally.
* Providing support and guidance through federated cloud engineering services.
* Developing engineering/technical standards, patterns, and ways-of-working.
* Identifying and developing innovative solutions to improve technology.
* Driving automation and the evolution towards a cloud-native environment, ensuring adoption of best practices.
* Promoting redundancy, knowledge sharing, cross-training, and documentation for operational resilience.
* Guiding the team in standard approaches for infrastructure delivery.
* Championing best-practice management of cloud services following DevSecOps standards.
* Ensuring architecture, design, and implementation exhibit high performance, security, scalability, maintainability, reusability, and reliability.
* Managing team resourcing levels according to project and support needs.
* Motivating and inspiring the team and partners, demonstrating commitment to values and leadership principles.
* Representing the Cloud Engineering Team as the SME to stakeholders.
* Leading decision-making in accordance with policies, standards, procedures, and delegated authorities.
What You'll Need:
* 5+ years in technology management roles with proven leadership success.
* 5+ years managing, engaging, and motivating tech teams.
* 10+ years working in medium to large IT environments.
* Strong leadership, people management, and team development skills.
* Experience in cloud engineering with Azure, designing and building cloud solutions in an IaC environment.
* Excellent technical knowledge of Azure cloud services.
* Deep understanding of security best practices in cloud computing and access management.
* Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions.
* Experience in fast-growing tech environments.
* Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of ITIL and ITSM frameworks.
* Proactive approach to automation, configuration management, and process improvement.
* Strong communication skills, ability to translate technical concepts, and collaborate effectively.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels.
* Adaptability in a dynamic tech environment.
* Calmness and competence under pressure.
