Electrical engineers play a critical role in delivering high-value engineering projects.
The position of Lead Electrical Engineer is key to managing resources, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards, and providing hands-on project engineering.
This includes overseeing the delivery of electrical work packages for the project, managing resources, and providing technical specifications, tender packages, and procurement processes.
A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering, construction, and commissioning processes, as well as experience in managing risks, prioritizing tasks, and delivering within budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Leadership:
Maintain a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with established policies and standards. Complete required safety activities, including regular audits.
Electrical Design Leadership:
Lead the Electrical Engineering team to align project scope and capital estimates with delivery strategy. Establish high-quality engineering systems, processes, and standards.
Design Engineering:
Develop electrical scopes of work, standards, and specifications for the project. Perform electrical design tasks, including calculations, sketches, and drawing reviews.
Project Engineering:
Prepare technical specifications, tender packages, and manage procurement processes. Support construction and commissioning phases, ensuring timely delivery of design information.
Risk and Stakeholder Management:
Identify and actively manage risks associated with assigned work packages. Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including end users and contractors.
About You:
A tertiary qualification in Engineering with 10+ years of professional experience is required. Proven expertise in managing the engineering aspects of capital projects in heavy industry is essential.
Skills and Knowledge:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software, and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and Project) is necessary. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are also required.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience in tendering, negotiating, and managing major equipment and construction contracts is desirable. Competence in coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams is also beneficial.
