About the Role The
Manager, Science Research Policy
plays a key role in shaping science and research program initiatives that support the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer. The role is focused on the delivery of the Research Attraction and Acceleration Program (RAAP), overseeing grant rounds from design through to assessment, contracting and monitoring outcomes. You will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based advice, briefings and reports to senior leaders, while working closely with stakeholders across government, academia and industry. This is a role requiring strong judgement, collaboration and the ability to manage complex projects with competing priorities.
You will join the
Policy Science & Research
team within the Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer branch in the Premier’s Department. The team delivers funding programs that drive science and research collaboration in NSW and stakeholder engagement to strengthen NSW’s research and innovation ecosystem.

We're Looking For
Think and Solve Problems:
Demonstrated ability to research, analyse and interpret complex program and policy issues, drawing on evidence to develop practical, well‑reasoned advice and recommendations.
Project Management:
Experience delivering grant programs or projects end-to-end, including setting timelines, managing risks, coordinating stakeholders and monitoring progress to achieve quality outcomes.
Communicate Effectively:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high‑quality briefs, reports and correspondence for senior leaders and diverse audiences, translating complex concepts into clear advice.
Work Collaboratively:
Builds and maintains productive relationships across government, research institutions and external stakeholders, working collaboratively to balance competing interests and deliver shared objectives.
Essential Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in science or policy, or equivalent experience in government, research or industry, with a sound understanding of the policy development process.
