Responsibilities
Play a pivotal role in shaping risk management strategies across Finance, People Performance & Reputation, Legal & Company Secretariat, and Group Risk divisions by providing expert advice and independent oversight.
Provide independent oversight of operational processes and associated risks across multiple Corporate Services Divisions including Finance, People Performance & Reputation, Legal & Company Secretariat, and Group Risk.
Conduct thematic reviews and walkthroughs of business processes to identify potential risk exposures and validate the effectiveness of controls in place.
Monitor risk dashboards as well as track Risk Events and Issues to ensure timely identification and escalation of emerging risks.
Support the Finance division with risk advisory services spanning complex areas such as accounting practices, actuarial assessments, reinsurance structures, and investment portfolios.
Deliver clear and actionable insights through both verbal presentations and written reports tailored for senior stakeholders across the organisation.
Collaborate closely with Line 1 teams to assess, test, and validate process-level controls through individual or team-based reviews.
Produce meaningful observations that drive improvements in risk-management practices while maintaining open channels of communication with all relevant parties.
Engage constructively with stakeholders at all levels to build partnerships that support shared objectives in risk mitigation.
Apply critical thinking skills to analyse situations from multiple perspectives and develop practical solutions that address underlying issues.
Stay abreast of regulatory requirements (APRA, Corporations Act, ASIC) ensuring all recommendations align with current governance standards.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in audit, internal audit, assurance or risk roles at a process level within insurance or financial services environments.
Proven ability to assess, test and validate process-level controls through both individual efforts and larger team-based reviews resulting in meaningful observations.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the capacity to communicate complex information clearly across diverse audiences.
A strategic mindset complemented by enterprise thinking that considers impacts across the expanded value chain.
Strong partnership-building abilities with a focus on collaboration towards shared goals within cross-functional teams.
Advanced critical thinking skills enabling you to analyse situations from multiple perspectives while identifying root causes and developing effective solutions.
Sound negotiation skills allowing you to facilitate consensus among parties with differing interests for organisational benefit.
Excellent presentation skills for delivering concise yet compelling information verbally to senior stakeholders.
Comprehensive understanding of Australian regulatory frameworks (APRA, Corporations Act, ASIC), governance principles and contemporary risk-management concepts.
Relevant tertiary qualifications (undergraduate degree required; postgraduate CA or CIA preferred).
