Role Overview
We are seeking a Disability Employment and Careers Specialist to lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of employability initiatives tailored for students with disability. This role will take the lead in shaping inclusive employment opportunities and contributing to Curtin's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2022–2030.
Job Description
The Disability Employment and Careers Specialist will be responsible for:
* Designing and delivering employability initiatives that support students with disability to achieve their career aspirations.
* Collaborating with internal colleagues across Student Success, AccessAbility, and Faculties to ensure alignment and accessibility of programs.
* Building and maintaining partnerships with employers, government agencies, and advocacy organisations to create inclusive employment opportunities.
* Providing individualised career advice and connecting students with resources and services to support their transition to work.
* Conducting project research, preparing business cases, and coordinating project planning, timelines, and evaluation frameworks.
* Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on student engagement, outcomes, and program effectiveness.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A relevant qualification in education, human resources, social work, disability studies or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience/training.
* Strong relationship management and networking skills, with the ability to collaborate across students, staff, employers, and advocacy groups.
* An understanding of issues facing students with disability and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, especially in relation to accessing employment.
* Knowledge of the National Standard for Disability Services and the ability to apply relevant legislation and policy in practice.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt for diverse audiences.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, respecting differences and supporting group goals.
* Research and analytical skills to inform evidence-based initiatives.
