About The Role
We are looking for Apprentices – Mechanical (Fitter and Turner), Electrical & Instrumentation to join Rio Tinto’s operations in Gladstone – Yarwun Refinery and Boyne Smelters. You will work across various areas, gaining valuable knowledge and skills.
This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on, self-motivated individuals seeking to start their careers in heavy industry. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Learning trade skills related to plant maintenance, machinery, and systems.
2. Completing an apprenticeship aligned with a nationally recognized training plan, including internal and external training (e.g., TAFE).
3. Collaborating with a team to ensure safe, continuous, and environmentally responsible operations.
4. Gaining experience from qualified trade experts with support from onsite apprentice mentors.

* Experience working in a team and good communication skills.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
* Completed Year 12 in 2023 or 2024 (or expected in 2025) with a minimum grade B in Essential Math and grade C in English.
* For Electrical & Instrumentation: Year 12 completion with a minimum grade B in General Math or grade C in Math Methods, and grade C in English.
* A pass in English, with reading and comprehension skills.
