Sai Shree Restaurant is a popular traditional Tandoori restaurant in Bli Bli in QLD. They are currently looking for an experienced Cook to join their expanding team.
The Role
This is a full time role with an annual salary set between $77,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
Your tasks will consist of:
Examine food to ensure quality and presentationCooking variety of dishes from the menu and on pans with guidance of head chefCooking menu items in co-operation with the rest of the kitchenUsing different methods of cooking such as tandoori cooking, frying, steaming, boiling and roastingPrepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foodsPortioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishesRegulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment maintain them in good working conditionReporting to management if any maintenance is requiredMaintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipmentOrder raw materials to supplier as per business needReview menu with head chef and contribute to some seasonal changes to the menuFollow and maintain all OH&SC requirement for safe kitchen and maintain work area and kitchen equipmentSetting up and stocking stations with all necessary suppliesAssist with the ordering of suppliesEnsure safety and sanitation practices in the kitchen
The Requirements
To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:
Strong food knowledge and skills in authentic Indian cuisineRelevant qualifications in cookery or hospitalityMinimum 3 years of experience as a commercial cook in a restaurant kitchenMinimum 3 years of experience in tandoori cooking is essentialMinimum 3 years of cooking experience with open fire and the Tandoor ovenMinimum 3 years of experience in preparing Indian sauces and Tandoori rub mix fromAble to prepare Indian sauces and Tandoori rub mix from scratchMust be able to work with proteins like beef, lamb and seafoodExperience in adherence to recipe & portion control, as well as ordering and stock controlAbility to follow instruction & take directionExcellent time management and attention to detailKnowledge of food safety and hygiene standardsExcellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a teamBe available to work on weekends to deal with many customersAvailable for split shifts and weekend work typical of hospitality
