RivMed is seeking a Trainee Post Custodial Support (PCS) Worker (Drug & Alcohol) to join our team. This is an Identified role and is only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Applicants only.
This appointment is for a fixed term of 2 years during which the Trainee will be expected to complete a Cert IV in A&OD / Mental Health or Cert IV in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs), which may involve travel to Sydney or alternative training venues for periods up to a week if the Certificate is block release.
The Trainee will be responsible for assisting with Post Custodial Support Services to those that require support and intervention in response to Drug and Alcohol concerns. The aim is to improve health outcomes, wellbeing, and the provision of care to those in custody and after their release into the community. The PCS Trainee will need to develop a comprehensive understanding of holistic wellbeing and the components of health that impact those with drug and alcohol concerns.
The successful applicant will work alongside a team of Drug and Alcohol workers and will work collaboratively with other internal programs and teams to achieve holistic, wrap-around support for clients.

Selection criteria
* Aboriginality - This is an identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander position and candidates will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginality acceptable to RivMed.
* Willing and ability to complete a Cert IV in A&OD/Mental Health or Cert IV in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs), which may involve travel to Sydney or an alternate training venue (potentially for up to a week if block release).
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* A genuine interest in delivering programs and services to Aboriginal communities.
* Good written, oral & computer-based communication skills.
* Good organisational skills, including the ability to work unsupervised and within timeframes.
* High level of interpersonal skills.
* Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel for work.
* Current working with children’s check and police check clearance or willingness to undertake.
