St Thomas More and St Mary Magdalene’s Schools are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable WHS / Compliance Coordinator to join our committed Leadership Team across two vibrant Catholic primary schools.
Operating as distinct entities, both schools are united under a shared Principal and supported by a Head of Campus at each site, fostering strong collaboration and a cohesive school culture. This unique dual-campus position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in promoting a safe, compliant, and supportive learning environment.
Your Responsibilities include:
- Undertake timely WHS inductions for staff, contractors, and volunteers to enable secure use of designated places, materials and equipment within the school.
- Ensure that contractors attending the school have the required clearances, licenses and insurance for the work they are undertaking and maintain records as applicable.
- Maintain WHS training outcomes on Salt and make arrangements for staff to fulfil mandatory WHS requirements, e.g. First Aid.
- Undertake WHS risk assessments, audits and inspections regularly, document outcomes, and draft correspondence and communications to ensure WHS legislative requirements are effectively met.
- Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing preventive measures.
- Provide advice and assistance to school leaders and other employees, requiring knowledge of WHS and RTW legislation, policies and procedures to enable the proactive management of WHS and RTW matters.
- Maintaining consistency in safety protocols while respecting the unique context of each school
About You:
- Commit to upholding and actively contributing to the Catholic ethos of the school.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and work effectively across dual school sites
- Diploma studies comprising one year of study in Work, Health & Safety (or equivalent) and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role.
- Return to Work Coordinator certificate or willingness to obtain
