We are seeking experienced and motivated Day therapy Assistants to join our team on a casual basis. We have a position available at our Peace Haven Facility, in Launceston, Tasmania.

The Position:
The primary purpose of the role is to deliver services and activities for Day Therapy Centre clients, incorporating key wellness and reablement approaches in line with the purpose of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). The Day Therapy Centre takes a person centered, individualistic approach to programs and activities with the aim to improve client’s quality of life, enhance their social skills, as well as optimise their level of physical and social activity.
Reporting directly to the Day Therapy Coordinator, in the role you will:
* Provide support to other members of the team in a team environment, in consultation and with direction from the Day Therapy Coordinator.
* Encourage, support and motivate clients, and their participation in social and physical activities utilising principles around wellness and reablement.
* Participate in team meetings and support the function of the Day Therapy Coordinator.
* Maintain specific reporting requirements and documentation relevant under CHSP guidelines relevant to ongoing care needs as required.
Requirements
What you can bring to the role:
* Have completed or are interested in working towards Certificate of Diversional Therapy/Leisure and Lifestyle Certificate IV or equivalent with demonstrated experience, particularly in aged care.
* Be enthusiastic, fun and passionate about providing quality activities and programs to our clients.
* Be competent in using a range of programs designed to promote client independence and maintain/extend their personal interests, social contacts and general physical mobility.
* Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills and sound written and verbal skills.
* Have the ability to display empathy and advocacy as appropriate.
* Display initiative and have an ability and willingness to learn, think outside the box.
* Previous experience in aged care is advantageous.
