Job Description
The GOALS campus of Lavers Hill K-12 College is dedicated to re-engaging young people who are currently disengaged from education. We provide students with a flexible and tailored education program, designed to support their individual needs.
As a teacher at this school, you will be responsible for delivering a program that prioritizes positive teacher-student relationships. You will work with staff who are trained in the Berry Street Education Model and operate using trauma-informed practice at all times.
You will focus on your students' strengths and work hard to develop a curriculum that best supports their needs. Each student has an annually updated Individual Learning Plan, covering both education and wellbeing aspects.
Our goal is for our students to continue onto employment or further education, which is a crucial aspect of the program's success.
Key Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated knowledge of relevant curricula, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills.
* Proven experience in responding to student learning needs.
* Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
* Ability to monitor and assess student learning, as well as use data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing, and engagement.
* Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, as well as experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve teaching quality.
As a classroom teacher, your primary focus will be on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes. You will engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve your knowledge and skills, effectively engaging students and improving their learning.
