The community actively supports worship, pastoral care, outreach initiatives, and faith development for people of all ages. As a Minister of Religion at the Macedonian Orthodox Community of Greater Wollongong, you will be responsible for providing spiritual leadership, conducting worship services, delivering pastoral care, and supporting community engagement initiatives. This position requires strong communication skills, deep commitment to the Orthodox faith, and the ability to connect with and guide congregational members. Essential Requirement: ⚠️ Candidates must be fully fluent in the Macedonian language — reading, writing, and spoken communication — to a professional standard. This requirement is essential to serve our Macedonian-speaking congregation. Responsibilities and Tasks: Worship and Spiritual Leadership Prepare and conduct public worship services, ensuring they reflect the teachings of the Macedonian Orthodox faith Deliver engaging sermons, homilies, and special talks, integrating music and liturgy into worship Conduct premarital and family counselling, providing support and guidance to individuals and families Community Engagement and Outreach Actively participate in community welfare activities, encouraging congregational involvement in service projects and initiatives Develop and lead Bible study, prayer, and discussion groups that promote spiritual growth and fellowship Visit congregational members in their homes, hospitals, and care facilities to provide spiritual guidance and comfort Leadership Development Mentor and support church leaders, equipping them to foster pastoral care within the congregation Encourage congregational members of all ages to engage actively in mission work and community outreach Administration and Record Keeping Maintain accurate records as required by church and civil law, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards Collaborate with church committees to enhance community programs and initiatives Qualifications and Skills: Full professional fluency in the Macedonian language, including reading, writing, and spoken communication (essential requirement). Deep commitment to the Macedonian Orthodox faith and alignment with the community's vision for spiritual growth and community engagement. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, guide, and nurture faith within the congregation. Enthusiasm for community ministry and a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with serving a growing congregation. Relevant theological qualifications and/or ministerial experience within the Orthodox Christian tradition.
