AWS Design Engineering team is looking for a highly talented and motivated Physical Security Architect /Engineer to work with our enterprise data centre design team, designing the data centres of tomorrow to maximize the effectiveness of the physical security program.
The duties include extra-low voltage system design and engineering, working with the data centre architectural and engineering team to assure security best practices are observed, drafting new systems into the design teams' build plans, and coordinating with regional and local physical security leaders to understand the new building and security system designs, adhering to the products on the AWS approved parts list.
A successful candidate will be responsible for interpretation of Risk Assessments and Threat Analysis and AWS Physical Security Standards to assure the proper security technologies are selected to meet the unique challenges to be found in a global security program.
After a new technology is inducted into the data centre physical security plan, this position will be responsible for assuring the new system is incorporated into the larger data centre basis of design.
Responsibilities
Design and engineer low voltage systems.
Use Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to collaborate with the design teams to produce designs in Revit/CAD.
Create specifications and scope of work documentation templates for local project managers to use for vendor bids.
Provide technical and design support for local physical security teams.
Coordinate with all disciplines in the design process of a new building (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT...).
Supervise and approve all design deliverables developed by the local physical security team for projects at each milestone of a project.
Analyze, accept or reject alternate designs and mitigation measures developed by the local physical security team when the standard design can't be applied.
Act as a subject matter expert to support implementation of new technologies.
Work regionally but also support the global PSA team to ensure alignment on decisions and standards.
Domestic and international travel for up to a week at a time.

5 years' operating in a leadership role either directly managing a team or matrix managing resources.
5 years working with senior company leaders as clients or internally.
At least 5 years' experience driving large-scale enterprise data centre projects.
Fundamental understanding of Data Centre IT Infrastructure.
Vendor/contractor management experience.
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of data centre design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to data centres, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Knowledge of critical data centre mechanical and electrical equipment.
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data centre equipment and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
