South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury that provides a range of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West, Great South, Upper Wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia.

About the role

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Executive Director to lead and coordinate the delivery of SWAMS Health Programs, including Aged Care, Disability Services, Health Promotion and Community based Access & Engagement activities. The staffing cohort is comprised of approximately 80 employees and 5 Managers directly reporting to this position.

Contract – initial 12‑month fixed term covering a parental leave period, based in Bunbury.

Key responsibilities

- Managing and overseeing service delivery across the SWAMS geographic service area.
- Managing compliance and governance requirements across all programs.
- Ensuring programs meet performance indicators, reporting requirements, and best practice standards.
- Driving strategic planning, implementation and evaluation as part of the Senior Management Team.
- Collaborating with the Board and Senior Leadership Team to shape the future of community services.
- Identifying and securing recent funding opportunities to support and expand Health Programs.
- Fostering partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
- Advocating for culturally appropriate service delivery.
- Managing and controlling budgets.
- Coordinating periodic contractual reporting requirements of organisational funding bodies.
- Leading and mentoring Managers within the Community Services group.

About you

- Proven leadership experience in the Community Services sector (Aged Care and/or Disability Services).
- Experience implementing processes that comply with governance and compliance requirements.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex service delivery.
- Experience working collaboratively with senior leadership and governance bodies.
- Commitment to Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing.
- Experience in preparing and submitting high quality reports and funding applications for both internal and external stakeholders.
