Location: Maitland, New South Wales. Employment type: Full-time. This is a full-time, temporary role working a 38-hour week.

Maitland City Council is a diverse and dynamic organisation. We work hard to ensure that our recreational spaces including parks and green spaces are in excellent condition for our community. We maintain over 163 parks, 78 playgrounds, and 384 hectares of open space, including spaces such as Maitland Park and Harold Gregson Reserve.
About The Opportunity
We are seeking applications from candidates who are highly motivated to commence their learning in the Parks and Gardens industry, whilst obtaining solid experience within local government. You will gain experience in gardening, greenkeeping, turf maintenance and landscaping services while maintaining parks, leisure and open space areas to enhance the city’s appearance.
Responsibilities
- Planting out and maintaining gardens, maintenance of turf areas, weed control and general horticultural duties.
- Operating plant and equipment (e.g., zero turn mowers, tractors and horticultural power tools).
You will commence your studies in a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens whilst developing knowledge, skills and abilities via on-the-job training.
About You / Qualifications
- Eligibility to complete Certificate III in Parks and Gardens (please read role charter to ensure eligibility before applying).
- Provisional or Class C Drivers Licence by the commencement of employment.
- Interest and aptitude in greenkeeping, gardening and landscaping.
- Proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals.
- Hold a WHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
Benefits
- Full time, temporary role with a 38-hour week; salary range $36,800.40 to $49,280.40 per year + 12% super. Commencing salary depends on age and/or previous education.
