Baringa
Posted: 1 February
Offer description

About Baringa We set out to build the world’s most trusted consulting firm – creating lasting impact for clients and pioneering a positive, people-first way of working. We work with everyone from FTSE 100 names to bright new start-ups, in every sector. You’ll find us collaborating shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients, from the big picture right down to the detail: helping them define their strategy, deliver complex change, spot the right commercial opportunities, manage risk, or bring their purpose and sustainability goals to life. Our clients love how we get to know what makes their organisations tick – slotting seamlessly into their teams and being proudly geeky about solving their challenges. We have hubs in Europe, the US, Asia and Australia, and we work all around the world - from a wind farm in Wyoming to a boardroom in Berlin. Find us wherever there's a challenge to be tackled and an impact to be made. Our Sustainability team is looking for a Consultant / Senior Consultant to help us grow and shape a rapidly expanding practice in Sydney. We’re looking for strong consulting fundamentals and a genuine interest in sustainability. You’ll work alongside senior experts to support clients across multiple sectors as they respond to major structural shifts linked to climate, nature and sustainability. Our work focuses on embedding these issues into core business areas such as strategy, risk, governance, investment decision-making and performance. What you will be doing You’ll work with clients on complex problems at the intersection of strategy, risk, governance and sustainability – helping organisations translate emerging external pressures into practical, enterprise-wide action. You’ll apply structured problem solving, stakeholder management and delivery skills in client-facing environments while rapidly building your expertise in climate and sustainability. Strategy & Business Model Transformation: Support organisations to integrate climate, nature and broader sustainability considerations into core business strategy, investment decision-making and long-term value creation. This includes helping clients set credible targets, prioritise initiatives and align capital and operational decisions with future-focused objectives. Risk, Scenario Analysis & Decision Support: Help clients assess how climate and sustainability-related risks and opportunities may affect their business and portfolios. This can include scenario analysis, financial impact assessments and translating technical findings into insights that inform strategy, risk management and planning. Enterprise Transformation & Capability Uplift: Design and deliver work programs that embed sustainability into core business processes, governance structures and operating models. This often involves coordinating across multiple functions, defining target states and building practical roadmaps for implementation. Governance, Reporting & External Expectations: Support clients to respond to evolving expectations from regulators, investors and markets. This may include strengthening governance frameworks, improving data and reporting processes, and preparing for sustainability-related disclosure requirements as part of broader organisational change. Beyond client delivery, you’ll be expected to play an active role in growing and shaping our sustainability practice: Shape our market propositions: Help develop and refine our service offerings in response to evolving client needs and industry trends in climate and sustainability. Enhance our market presence: Contribute to how we articulate and showcase our capabilities internally and externally, including supporting client conversations, events and key pieces of insight. Contribute to thought leadership : Help develop practical insights and points of view on emerging sustainability topics, supporting both client impact and the growth of your own subject-matter profile. Support business development: Contribute to proposals, identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and help build our network across the market. Your skills and experience Experience 2 – 4 years of relevant work experience, ideally within a management consultancy or an internal strategy, transformation or change function. Experience delivering complex, stakeholder-heavy projects in dynamic environments. Exposure to financial services is beneficial but not essential. Consulting & delivery skills Strong structured problem-solving skills and the ability to break down complex issues into practical, actionable steps. Confidence working with senior stakeholders and communicating complex topics in a clear, outcome-focused way. Experience supporting or leading workstreams within multi-disciplinary projects. Ability to work in ambiguity and help shape evolving problem statements and project scopes. High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outputs. Interest in sustainability A genuine interest in climate, sustainability and responsible investment topics, and a motivation to build your expertise in this space. Curiosity about how emerging environmental and social issues are reshaping business strategy, risk and investment decisions. What a career at Baringa will give you Putting People First. Baringa is a People First company and wellbeing is at the forefront of our culture. We recognise the importance of work-life balance and flexible working and provide our staff amazing benefits. Some of these benefits include: Generous Annual Leave Policy: We recognise everyone needs a well-deserved break. We provide our employees with 5 weeks of annual leave, fully available at the start of each year. In addition to this, we have introduced our 5-Year Recharge benefit which allows all employees an additional 2 weeks of paid leave after 5 years continuous service. Flexible Working: We know that the ‘ideal’ work-life balance will vary from person to person and change at different stages of our working lives. To accommodate this, we have implemented a hybrid working policy and introduced more flexibility around taking unpaid leave. Corporate Responsibility Days: Our world is important to us, so all our employees get 3 every year to help social and environmental causes and increase our impact on the communities that mean the most to us. Wellbeing Fund: We want to encourage all employees to take charge and prioritise their own wellbeing. We’ve introduced our annual People Fund to support this by offering every individual a fund to support and manage their wellbeing through an activity of their choice. Profit Share Scheme: All employees participate in the Baringa Group Profit Share Scheme so everyone has a stake in the company’s success. Diversity and Inclusion We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We believe that creating an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging is central to our culture and that diversity is paramount to driving creativity, innovation, and value for our clients and for our people.
