Manager Statistical Analysis
Location - This role is based in Parramatta and offers hybrid working arrangements in line with departmental policy, with approximately 50% of workdays expected to be onsite.
Employment type – Ongoing full-time role
Salary - $149,739.00 pa - $173,174.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
This role provides you with an exciting opportunity to use your experience and skills to develop evidence and drive its use in improving outcomes for vulnerable children, families and communities across a range of areas including child protection, out-of-home care, social housing, homelessness and domestic and family violence. You will work closely with policy, program and operations to understand their needs and develop analytical solutions to support their work.
What you’ll do
The Manager, Statistical Analysis leads a small team responsible for informing DCJ-wide business planning, policy development and service reform by undertaking a wide variety of complex quantitative analyses such as:
- Building models to better understand future service demand and supply issues.
- Producing short- and long-term projections of the demand population for various services.
- Analysing the impact of programs and reform initiatives on client outcomes
- Analysing non-administrative datasets such as ABS Census or other survey data
- Analysing administrative datasets including datasets linked with services provided by other government departments to better understand what impacts on client outcomes
- Undertaking predictive analytics
- Providing support with survey design, sampling and analysis
- Providing advice and review of quantitative methodology
This role is in the Family and Community Services Insights, Analysis and Research (FACSIAR) Directorate which is a centre of excellence in human services analysis and research within DCJ. FACSIAR conducts and supports analysis, research and evaluation across DCJ and works with other government and non-government agencies and research organisations on specific projects, data linkage and research and evaluation activities.
What we’re looking for
Essential requirement:
Tertiary qualifications in statistics, econometrics, or a related discipline with a strong statistical component with demonstrated commitment to ongoing career development.
In addition to the essential requirement listed in the role description, the successful candidate will have:
- Knowledge and experience in statistics, econometrics, mathematics or a related discipline
- Experience in leading and managing high quality quantitative analysis and modelling to drive critical business decision making
- High level project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage conflicting commitments and priorities, use clear judgement under pressure and deliver on outcomes within budget and resource allocation
- High level communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a range of stakeholders including other DCJ Divisions, State and Commonwealth agencies, academics/researchers and other organisations
- Experience in managing, mentoring and developing people
- Knowledge and experience in programming languages such as SPSS or R
