The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Environment Manager to join our team for a fixed term contract. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the port's environmental management strategy, requiring initiative, independence, and strong leadership skills.

* Management of all operational environmental compliance requirements.
* Providing accurate and commercially astute advice on environmental issues.
* Maintenance of the environmental management system to ISO 14001 standard.
* Providing environmental support and advice on various capital projects.
* Maintaining effective relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners.

What You Will Bring

* A tertiary qualification in engineering, science or a relevant field.
* Experience with contaminated land and asbestos management.
* Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures and management systems.
* Prior involvement in managing project consultants and dealing with regulatory agencies.
* Strong customer focus and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of port operations and development is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and standards related to environmental protection and sustainability.
2. To investigate and respond to environmental incidents, developing strategies to prevent recurrence and minimize impact.
3. To work closely with stakeholders, including internal departments, external partners and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
