Job Description: Finance Officer (Temporary) – School Environment, Canberra
Location: Canberra Avenue, Griffith
Duration: 5 January – 17 April (with potential extension)
Hours: FT or PT hours on offer (Mondays–Wednesdays essential during pay weeks)
Onsite Only: 8:00am–4:00pm or 7:30am–3:30pm
Parking: Onsite staff parking available
About the Role
A reputable Canberra school is seeking a skilled
Finance Officer
to provide temporary payroll and accounts support during a period of medical leave within the finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who thrives in a collaborative, community-focused environment and can confidently manage payroll and accounts processes with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll (Fortnightly)
Process end-to-end payroll for approximately 130 staff, including ***** casual relief teachers.
Ensure compliance under a multi-enterprise agreement.
Maintain accurate employee records and resolve payroll queries promptly.
Accounts & Finance Administration
Manage accounts payable and receivable functions (Cinigetic system experience highly beneficial).
Support general finance administration and ad hoc accounts tasks as required.
Assist with financial documentation, reconciliations, and data entry.
Team & School Support
Communicate effectively with staff across the school community (~1,000 students).
Contribute to a supportive, respectful, and collaborative finance team.
Provide responsive assistance during peak periods, particularly pay weeks.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong working knowledge of Micropay (essential).
Experience using
Cinigetic
or working within education/ school environments (preferred).
Demonstrated ability to process payroll under a
multi-enterprise agreement
.
High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work to deadlines.
Confident, compassionate, and adaptable communication style suitable for a busy school setting.
Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist across accounts and finance functions.
Ability to work onsite for all scheduled shifts.
Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Check

Casual Loading
