Crematorium Operator (Pet Cremations)
Location: Urangan - Hervey Bay
Employment Type: SALARY (Evening Shifts Only) Minimum 7 hours per night
Schedule: 5 nights per week (No weekends)
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Crematorium Operator to join our dedicated team caring for beloved companion animals during their final journey. This role is vital in maintaining the respectful and dignified handling of pet remains while ensuring the cremation process runs safely and smoothly.
What You'll Be Doing
* Operate and monitor cremation furnaces, ensuring safe, respectful, and efficient operation at all times
* Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of cremation equipment to ensure reliability and longevity
* Adhere strictly to all standard operating procedures and quality control protocols to maintain integrity throughout the cremation process
* Assist in the respectful preparation and transfer of pet remains, including collecting paw prints and locks of fur
* Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout all stages of the cremation process
* Provide compassionate, professional service when communicating or assisting grieving pet owners
* General housekeeping duties within the crematorium to maintain a clean and respectful environment
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in a similar role, such as furnace operation or within a pet/human crematorium, is highly desirable
* Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and address equipment issues or inefficiencies
* Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to procedure and care standards
* Empathetic and respectful approach when dealing with sensitive situations and clients experiencing grief
* Ability to work independently while also being a valued part of a supportive, close-knit team
* Must hold a manual driver's license and have reliable transport to and from the crematorium
* Formal training or certification in cremation operations or a related mechanical/technical field will be highly regarded
