Join Our Team as a Project Director at PBD Architects Sydney Office
Who We Are
PBD Architects is a design-focused architecture practice based in Sydney and Melbourne, recognised for our creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence. We work across residential, commercial, seniors living, aged care, master planning, and hospitality, consistently delivering projects that balance innovative design with practical, buildable solutions.
At PBD, we take pride in our ability to see a project through from early concepts right to construction — and that's where you come in.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Project Director to take the lead in overseeing project delivery with a strong focus on quality control, technical excellence, and client relationships. You'll play a crucial role in making sure our projects not only look good on paper but also work seamlessly on site.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and review construction drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy, coordination, and compliance.
* Lead quality control processes across multiple projects as a Design Practitioner.
* Manage and forecast resources, keeping teams efficient and projects profitable.
* Monitor delivery timelines, project scope and budgets, ensuring targets are met.
* Support Project Leaders and Associates in resolving technical and construction challenges.
* Act as a bridge between design and delivery — ensuring the design intent is upheld through to completion.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve documentation and construction queries.
* Mentor and guide team members on technical delivery and documentation best practice.
Who You Are
* 15+ years of local architecture experience with strong construction and delivery expertise in Class 2 projects.
* Registration as an Architect in Australia.
* Registration as a Design Partitioner (NSW).
* A sharp eye for detail and a passion for getting documentation right.
* Strong understanding of codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
* Excellent resource and budget management skills.
* Clear communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across clients, consultants, and teams.
* Leadership qualities that inspire and mentor others.
Technical Tools
* ArchiCAD / Revit
* Microsoft Office
What We Offer
* Competitive salary package
* A vibrant office surrounded by great cafés and restaurants
* Opportunities for career development, training, and leadership growth
* Access to seminars, design workshops, and industry events
* Regular socials — from Friday drinks and birthday celebrations to our annual tennis tournament
Joining PBD means stepping into a collaborative, supportive studio where your expertise in construction and quality control will make a real impact. We believe in creating a workplace where people thrive, grow, and enjoy the journey as much as the outcomes.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
