**Position Description**
This permanent position is ideal for a highly motivated individual with Quantity Surveyor qualifications at a Construction Company in Mount Waverley. Reporting to the Purchasing & Estimating Manager, you will work in a friendly and team-focused environment. Your main responsibilities include estimating and monitoring construction costs from project feasibility to completion, managing costs, handling variations, and ensuring adherence to budgets. You will also oversee tender documents, contracts, and relevant documentation, prepare cost plans, monitor expenditure, and identify cost-saving opportunities through collaboration with contractors, suppliers, and the project team.
**Duties and responsibilities**
- Estimates and monitors construction costs from the project feasibility stage, through tender preparation, to the construction period, and beyond.
- Manages construction costs from feasibility through to delivery, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Assumes responsibility for handling variations that arise during the construction process, evaluating their impact on project costs and making necessary adjustments.
- Oversees the management of tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other relevant documentation.
- During the pre-construction or design phase, prepares comprehensive cost plans for concept design, design development, and construction tender documentation.
- Throughout the construction phase, closely monitors expenditure against budgeted categories, assesses and reports on how project costs are affected, and provides regular monthly cashflow forecasts.
- Approves monthly progress payments based on accurate assessment and evaluation of work completed.
- Upon completion of a construction project, generates tax depreciation schedules and prepares replacement cost estimations for insurance purposes.
- Coordinates with relevant stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and project team members, to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the estimation and coordination process.
- Implements cost control measures and identifies opportunities for cost savings or value engineering throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and contractual obligations related to cost estimation and coordination.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification
- 2 years' experience in related position
- Strong knowledge of construction costs and the ability to accurately estimate and monitor project expenses.
- Proficient in cost management techniques, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Excellent understanding of construction contracts, tender documents, and legal aspects related to cost estimation and coordination.
- Skilled in preparing and interpreting bills of quantities and other construction-related documentation
- Proficient in using cost estimation software and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify cost-saving opportunities and address variations during construction.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficient in financial forecasting and cash flow management
- Knowledge of tax depreciation schedules and insurance replacement cost estimations
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices in construction cost estimation and coordination.
**Salary**: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
