We are currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Developer to work with a reputable power tool company in Pemulwy. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in database creation and a proven ability to design, build, optimise and maintain a stable database systems to store business data securely. You will be integral in bridging the gap between back end application developers and business stakeholders by writing complex queries, ensuring data integrity, and optimising system performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Database Design: Create logical and physical data models, schemas, tables, and views tailored to business requirements.
* Optimisation: Fine-tune database performance through query optimisation, indexing, and capacity planning.
* Data Integration: Build and manage Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines to move and reconcile data across systems.
* Security & Compliance: Implement access controls, constraints, and backup procedures to safeguard sensitive information.
* Troubleshooting: Monitor database health, diagnose bottlenecks, and resolve data anomalies or system malfunctions.
* Collaboration: Work with software engineers to ensure smooth integration between applications and databases.
Required Skills
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and experience with NoSQL databases.
* Languages: Familiarity with programming languages like Python, C++, Java, or PHP for scripting and back end development.
* Data Concepts: Strong understanding of database architecture, normalisation, and transaction management.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
