As an Assistant Director in the Office for Youth, you will lead youth engagement initiatives, training and support across the Australian Government, measuring and evaluating the Office for Youth's progress and support and lead child safeguarding protocols. You'll play a key role in shaping how the Australian Government engages with young people, while working closely with a dynamic team to deliver on the national youth engagement strategy, _Engage!._
**Mandatory requirement of the role** - The Office for Youth has a zero tolerance to child abuse and neglect and all employees are expected to maintain high standards of practice related to child and youth safety. Successful applicants will be required to obtaining and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People/Working with Children Check.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
As Assistant Director, Government Priorities in the Office for Youth, you will work across the Australian Government to empower agencies to effectively engage with young people in line with, and to support the implementation of, the Government's youth engagement strategy, _Engage!._
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Building capability across Australian Government agencies to engage with young people through the implementation of the youth engagement strategy, _Engage!_, including conducting workshops and online training.
- Manage and build collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Commonwealth agencies, state and territory governments, youth sector stakeholders and young people.
- Manage the Australian Government's Youth Steering Committee, its engagement with the Office for Youth and with external stakeholders.
- Lead a small team to deliver on the priorities of the Australian Government's youth engagement strategy, while building their capability and managing performance.
- Provide child safeguarding support for in-person and virtual meetings. This will require you to stay in hotels with other Office for Youth staff for in-person meetings, and support virtual meetings held after 4pm approximately 6-8 times a year.
- Support other youth initiatives across the branch as required, including but not limited to youth meetings, consultations and ad-hoc support of Australian Government initiatives.
