Job reference:
Location: 5600 - WHYALLA
Job status: Long Term Contract
Eligibility: Open to Everyone

Every child and young person deserves a great education. We have a strategy that aims to unlock every child’s potential now and into the future, one that in partnership with learners, students, parents and the wider South Australian community will build a world-leading public education system. One that is equitable and prioritises learning and wellbeing.

Together we will make our education system the best it can be. When our children and young people thrive, so do our communities and our state.

About The Role

Are you a speech pathologist looking for a change? Have you recently graduated? Are you seeking travel and excitement, and have a passion to make a difference? Do you like to work with children, want to explore the outback with an amazing team or improve your experience working with Aboriginal families? If this is you then we have the role for you. There are incentives such as relocation assistance, up to 20% loading and/or government housing if you wish to relocate to Whyalla or Port Augusta. Full-time and part time options can be negotiated and there is the possibility to be based in the city working in a negotiated fly in/fly out arrangement. Take a chance and make the change.

The Speech Pathologist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and works with children and young people with speech, language and/or communication needs and their families. The Speech Pathologist works closely with the Senior Speech Pathologists, speech pathology colleagues, preschool and school staff, and families to develop evidence-based speech, language and communication interventions that include proactive, targeted and intensive strategies that can be adapted for learning and home contexts. This position works under the direct professional support of the Senior Speech Pathologist.

Student Support Services are on a cultural responsive journey, as such we value and prioritise Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing and being.

Port Augusta, known as the gateway to the Flinders Ranges, provides stunning landscapes and numerous outdoor adventures. Experience the charm of the outback with easy access to hiking, camping, and exploring unique geological features. Port Augusta boasts a lower cost of living, a welcoming community, and a relaxed pace of life.

Both locations offer a short commute, a supportive community, and a chance to enjoy a high quality of life with a strong focus on work-life balance.
