About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre
We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.
About The Role
The Work Health Safety & Risk Lead delivers best practice, integrated WHS function across the organisation. The focus of the role is to build a genuine business partner relationship with key internal stakeholders to enable them to meet their operational and strategic goals.
The Work Health Safety & Risk Lead will provide strategic and operational advice to the Executive Director People Culture, Safety & Risk and to program Directors and Leaders across the organisation on all work health and safety (WHS) and risk related matters to assist in meeting compliance with statutory requirements, and strategic directions. This role provides advice and guidance, support, and implementation of health, safety and risk practices by embedding relevant Legislation to maintain compliance.
The role will work collaboratively with the broader P&C Team to ensure a fully effective WHS function across the organisation.

Key Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Your application must address the following:
* Bachelor qualifications in Work Health and Safety discipline desirable
* Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety
* WorkSafe Victoria approved Return to Work Coordinator & Mental injury claims
* At least 4 years' experience in a similar senior Work Health and Safety position
* Experience in leading a small team
Essential Skills and Knowledge
* Demonstrated experience in providing OHS workplace advice based on legislation and code of practice.
* Demonstrated experience in conducting hazard identification, risk assessment and safety audits
* Experience managing the delivery of WHS operations and leading initiatives that support delivery of strategic objectives.
* Strong business acumen including analysing and interpreting WHS and Risk trends
* Demonstrated experience in the creation and application of policy and procedures
* Ability to manage priorities whilst demonstrating a high level of independence in solving problems and using judgement.
* Proven ability and experience in contributing to a positive safety culture.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, support and contribute to organisational projects that support improving practices or developing leader capability and demonstrated examples of development and implementing WHS and Wellbeing initiatives.
* Excellent written communication skills, including report writing, analysis of trends and advice to managers and or employees on issues.
* Excellent organisational, interpersonal and time management skills and strong attention to detail
* A flexible approach and the ability to be proactive and productive where there is ambiguity.
* Ability to adhere to the organisations policies and procedures.

Period of Appointment
This position is ongoing depending on funding.
Hours of work
The position is full time 38 hours per week.
Salary and Conditions
Annual salary is Business Services, Administration and Support Services, Level 5 plus superannuation. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.
Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.
Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.
Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
