Role Description:
Newcastle Anglican seeks a dedicated and experienced Domestic & Family Abuse Education Officer (DFAO) to lead our commitment to the prevention of, and response to, domestic and family abuse (DFA). This pivotal role drives the implementation of the Ten Commitments for Preventing and Responding to Domestic and Family Violence, adopted by Synod in 2022.
The DFAO will provide specialist advice, education, and operational support to clergy, employees, and managers, ensuring Newcastle Anglican is a leader in creating safe and respectful environments.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver Newcastle Anglican's Domestic and Family Abuse Strategic Prevention Plan.
* Design and deliver DFA prevention and response training for clergy, leaders, and key communities.
* Maintain practical tools, resources, and policies to strengthen responses to domestic abuse.
* Provide expert advice and guidance on complex DFA matters.
* Conduct risk assessments and support incident management to ensure safe and appropriate responses.
* Promote respectful behaviours, gender equity, and healthy models of masculinity.
* Build strong partnerships with clergy, parishes, staff, and external agencies.
* Monitor data, prepare reports, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Represent Newcastle Anglican in relevant networks and forums.
