This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2025
Gilmore College is an Independent Public School which opened in 2008, continuing 52 previous years of secondary education provided by Kwinana Senior High School. The school continues the education of students from within the City of Kwinana area primary schools. The Role
The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. As a liaison between the school and community, the AIEO works closely with teachers, students and families to develop culturally relevant educational programs that empower our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to reach their full potential.
AIEO's assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, through curriculum support and pastoral care to enable students to be successful learners. The successful applicant should be caring, proactive, and responsive, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as possess good written and oral communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group-based programs. The successful applicant should have a strong belief in every child’s ability to succeed at school and will be able to draw on a range of strategies to positively impact learning and behaviour.
The successful applicant will ideally display a commitment to our school vision, values and priorities for a meaningful and relevant curriculum, high quality teaching, a positive learning environment and strong family and community partnerships

Eligibility
To work with us, you must:

* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.

* Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, community members and professional staff on the provision and development of educational programs.
* Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in a variety of settings and with different audiences, including community members, teaching and other professionals.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and to provide multi-cultural direction in the development of the educational program, development of language resources, and evaluation of education and behaviour management programs.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
* Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
* Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
