The Australian Institute of Cyber Security (AICS) is seeking experienced cyber security professionals to join as contract sessional trainers and assessors. This role involves contributing to the development and delivery of cyber security education across Australia.
Position Overview
Position: Sessional Trainer and Assessor
Contract Type: Independent contractor
Location: Any major Australian city, delivery is online
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Compensation: Industry rates, discussed with suitable candidates
About the Role
The role involves delivering and assessing nationally recognised cyber security courses. These include Foundations of Cyber Security, the Cyber Security Accreditation Course, Cyber Skills for Lawyers, and Cyber Skills for Accountants.
You will work directly with the CEO and contribute to maintaining high educational standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver course content through online platforms
* Assess student assignments and practical work against AICS standards
* Provide feedback to students on performance and progress
* Assist with improvement of course materials and assessments
* Maintain current knowledge of Australian cyber security practices, legislation, and threats
* Ensure compliance with AICS training and assessment standards
* Participate in moderation and validation activities when required
Essential Requirements
* Minimum five years professional experience in cyber security or information security
* Experience in at least two of the following areas:
o Network security
o Application security
o Incident response
o Digital forensics
o Governance, risk and compliance
o Cloud security
o Penetration testing
o Security architecture
* Strong understanding of Australian frameworks and legislation such as ASD Essential Eight, ISO 27001, Privacy Act 1988, and Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non technical audiences
* Current Australian working rights
Desirable
* Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, OSCP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+
* Experience in training or assessment
* Experience working with legal or accounting professionals in cyber security contexts
* Postgraduate qualifications in cyber security, IT, or related fields
* AICS membership including MAICS, GAICS, or FAICS
