Job Description
As a Principal Legal Officer, you will provide expert legal advice on commercial agreements and complex financial transactions within the public sector.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a lawyer with strong expertise in contracts law and finance law to work in a collaborative team that provides independent, expert legal services to drive government priorities.
* Draft and Review Documentation: Undertake the drafting and reviewing of contracts and other documentation.
* Provide Legal Support and Advice: Prepare legal advice for senior lawyers to finalize, assisting Treasury business groups and senior management.
* External Counsel Management: Engage, brief, and manage external lawyers and barristers.
* Team Collaboration and Development: Work in teams on allocated matters under the supervision of senior lawyers.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
* Strong analytical writing and drafting skills applicable to commercial, statutory, and other documents.
* The ability to work with supervisors to provide advice that meets business and legal requirements, manages risk, considers wider future implications, and aligns with Treasury's objectives.
* Collaboration and Autonomy: The ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously to ensure the team delivers on commitments.
* Stakeholder Communication: The ability to tailor communication to understand perspectives and meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
* A commitment to personal, professional, and technical growth.
* Admission to practice law as a solicitor in Queensland.
