About Us
Spartan First is a leading provider of comprehensive occupational health medical assessments and injury management solutions. We help corporate clients foster safe workplaces, providing end-to-end services from pre-employment screenings to complex injury rehabilitation and return-to-work coordination. We are expanding rapidly and seeking a proactive, strategic Operations Manager to join our leadership team.
The Role
As the Operations Manager, you will be the driving force behind the day-to-day operations of our clinics and service delivery teams. You will ensure that all medical assessments (e.g., fitness for work, audiometry, spirometry, drug & alcohol screening) and injury management processes are efficient, compliant, and deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Operational Leadership: Direct and optimise clinical end-to-end operational workflows and regulatory compliance, for varied pre-employment health assessments, functional capacity evaluations and fitness for work determinations.
* Service Excellence & Compliance: Ensure all services meet or exceed client SLAs and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO9001, WorkSafe compliance).
* Injury Management & RTW: Oversee the Injury Management team to deliver targeted, evidence-based Return to Work (RTW) services, enhancing recovery outcomes.
* Team Management: Mentor, train, and supervise clinical professionals, support staff, and administrators to build a culture of accountability and high performance.
* Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the candidate/client journey and implement lean, digitalized systems to streamline workflows.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, doctors, and allied health providers.
* Client Acquisition: Drive revenue growth by identifying new business leads and leading the end-to-end tender process, from market research and strategy development to the submission of high-quality, competitive proposals.
* Financial Accountability: Manage operational budgets, including P&L forecasting, staff allocation, and cost control.
About You
You are a seasoned operations leader with a background in healthcare or occupational health. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves to fix a process, but you also think strategically about scaling the business.
Essential Criteria
* Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in senior operational management, preferably within occupational health, a GP medical group, or a corporate health setting.
* Tertiary qualification in Health Administration, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
* Injury Management Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of workers' compensation, return-to-work practices, and injury management consultancy.
* Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on coaching and development.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of OH&S legislation, medical privacy regulations, and accreditation standards.
* Analytical Ability: Strong skills in using data to monitor KPIs and inform strategic decisions.
