Join Vault Minerals as a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth, contributing to gold mining operations with hands‑on geotechnical project involvement.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Working under the guidance of the Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
- Developing understanding of ground stability, monitoring, control, and mine infrastructure procedures (underground and open pit).
- Undertaking underground and open pit geotechnical fieldwork such as core logging, sample collection, Q/Q‑'mapping, and wall mapping.
- Conducting geotechnical data collection and analysis for ground support and stope design criteria.
- Documenting rock mass behaviors and performing quality control and assurance for performance evaluation.
- Following up on Rock Noise reports and communicating promptly.
- Conducting Monthly Ground Support Audits and issuing support plans and defect notices.
- Archiving and storing geotechnical data and information methodically.
- Measuring and visually assessing stability of key mine pillars with Senior Engineer guidance.
- Contributing to numerical models for underground workings to support mining activities.
- Assisting in training underground crews on ground support and ground condition assessment.
- Providing geotechnical data for End of Month (EOM) Reports for underground and open pit operations.
- Ensuring maintenance and functionality of geotechnical equipment.
About You
The company is looking for:
- Bachelor of Engineering or Science with a Geotechnical specialisation.
- Developing understanding of Western Australian Mining Act, Regulations, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
- Ability to learn mining software packages including Deswik, Leapfrog, AcQuire, GEM4D, and Rocscience software (Unwedge, DIPS, RS3, Slide2).
- Current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class).
