Temporary Finance Analyst role with a State Government Department, based near the city

Our State Government client is seeking an experienced Finance Analyst on a 6-month contract basis. This role requires an immediate start and is based near Perth city.
Your new role
* Prepares and critically reviews regular and ad hoc management reports-including financial, Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), and activity reports-for distribution to cost centre managers. Engages with frontline managers and Heads of Departments to investigate and explain variances.
* Processes Divisional journals and financial transactions such as accruals, receivables, and payables to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting.
* Assists in the preparation of monthly forecasts for the Division and Department under the guidance of the Business Manager.
* Collaborates with stakeholders on financial, procurement, and resource-related matters impacting the Division or Group, ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken.
* Contributes to the development of activity, financial, and FTE targets to support strategic planning.
* Conducts analysis and evaluation of Divisional performance against established indicators, providing detailed reports and strategic advice.
* Participates in the development and implementation of strategies to address and manage unplanned variances.
* Supports the Business Manager in the creation, coordination, and monitoring of Divisional Business Plans.
* Develops or contributes financial insights to proposals and business cases for new or enhanced services.
* Prepares and delivers financial data and analysis to support the development, management, and monitoring of Business Cases.
What you'll need to succeed
* Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in budgeting and financial management within a large organisation or complex business unit.
* Advanced proficiency in using contemporary financial systems and software, with strong capabilities in financial and data analysis.
* Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex financial data through clear and concise reports.
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proven capacity to liaise, consult, and negotiate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively as part of a team to achieve shared goals.
