Working together, we help identify, protect, conserve, and celebrate Australia's significant natural, First Nations, and historic heritage.
First Nations Heritage Protection Branch
We are the focal point for First Nations Heritage protection matters. Our team develops and implements policies, programs, and regulations for the protection of First Nations cultural heritage. We administer legislation for the protection of significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander places and objects through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984 (Cth) (ATSIHP Act).
