About the Role
We are currently recruiting for Residential Youth Support Workers to join our residential care team in Bunbury region. These are hands‑on Permanent Part Time and Casual positions, with most time spent in the house or participating in recreational activities. You will be working directly with children and young people; the positions are based in a 24/7 residential setting with fortnightly rotating shift rosters. The program prioritises the safety and well‑being of children and young people, offering a predictable, home‑like environment that is culturally safe and responsive.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
* Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
* Support the young person's interests
* Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
* Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co‑regulate emotionally
* Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking, housework, laundry
* Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
* Medication administration (when required)
* Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping
Skills & Experience
* Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
* Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
* Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
* Experience working with young people from Indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
* A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate
* A current drivers licence
Additionally, experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), positive behaviour support, trauma and attachment, Sanctuary or CARE residential models will be highly regarded
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.
