Salary: AU$76,515.00 – AU$85,000.00 per annum plus superannuation ), depending on skills and experience.
Job Type: Full-time, 38 hours per week

Jalan Jalan Eats is a newly established restaurant in Ballarat offering authentic Malaysian cuisine.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the kitchen and help shape a unique dining experience that showcases the rich, diverse flavours of Malaysia.
You will be responsible for preparing a variety of traditional Malaysian dishes, including Malaysian Indian, Malay, and Chinese cuisines. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently in a new kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and present authentic Malaysian dishes to a high standard
Develop and update menus, ensuring a balance of traditional and innovative offerings
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including stock and hygiene
Ensure compliance with food safety and cleanliness standards
Supervise and train kitchen staff, including maintaining safe food handling process
Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth service and quality
Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience working as a chef in commercial kitchens
Formal qualifications in Commercial Cookery:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum)
Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Commercial Cookery (preferred)
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian cuisine
Excellent time management and kitchen organisation skills
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
Available to work on weekends and evenings
