The Opportunity
The Engaged Space is seeking an experienced Senior HR Consultant to join our growing team on a 12-month maternity leave contract. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients across a broad range of industries, delivering high-quality, practical HR advice and support across all areas of the employee lifecycle.
The Role
As a Senior HR Consultant, you will play a critical role in leading the delivery of expert advice, project work, and hands-on HR support tailored to individual client needs. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on variety—of work, clients, and industries—and enjoys partnering closely with business leaders.
You will be a key contributor to team objectives, supporting clients across areas including:
* Legislative interpretation and compliance
* Organisational development and change management
* Performance management, investigations, and disciplinary processes
* Development of employment agreements, policies, and procedures
* Workforce planning and OD strategy
* Generalist HR advice to mitigate risk and enable best practice
Your work will directly support clients to attract and retain talent, manage workplace issues effectively, and build high-performing, compliant, and engaged workplaces.

The Engaged Space is a South Australian-based HR consultancy, partnering with clients in an advisory, ongoing, or project capacity. We pride ourselves on being adaptable, flexible, and highly practical in our approach.
Working across a wide range of industries—including with some iconic South Australian and Australian brands—we support businesses to manage workplace risk while making a meaningful contribution to employee engagement and organisational performance.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* Demonstrated experience as a senior or consulting-level HR professional
* Strong interpersonal skills and professional judgement
* The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a team

* Confidence in providing practical, solution-focused HR advice in complex environments

Person Specification:
Essential
* Demonstrated experience in a senior level generalist HR role, including supporting organisational development, performance management and recruitment.
* Experience in creating and implementing people and culture initiatives.
* Solid understanding and ability to navigate Modern Awards and the Australian Industrial Relations system.
* Flexible and adaptable to deliver on client needs as part of a small team.
* Highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
* Solutions focused.
* Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing demands.
* A pragmatic and common-sense approach to HR and business.
Desirable
* Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources / Industrial Relations is highly regarded
