Role Summary
This role is an exciting opportunity to support young Aboriginal people in transitioning from job-ready to job-secure. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in guiding participants into employment and ensuring they have the skills and support needed to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Guide participants into employment once they have completed their skilling and preparation phase.
* Build strong relationships with young Aboriginal participants and understand their needs and aspirations.
* Match participants to suitable roles, taking into account workplace fit, cultural safety, and long-term retention.
* Conduct workplace visits, provide onboarding support, and monitor outcomes to set participants up for success.
* Advocate for the program by educating employers on culturally safe practices and promoting a values-led approach.
* Work closely with the Program Manager, Coordinator, Mentors, and the Program Support Officer to ensure seamless workflow alignment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience in employment services, preferably in roles such as Senior Employment Consultant, Job Coach, or Placement Consultant.
* Proven success in achieving employment outcomes, retention rates, and employer engagement.
* Strong job matching skills, including screening, placement, and retention strategies.
* Confident communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage employers and promote culturally safe practices.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, listen actively, and provide support.
* Accurate database management skills, with experience working with government compliance systems.
* Respect for cultural safety and awareness of the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal young people.
