Role Overview
We are currently seeking a Machine Operator with experience in laser cutting and brake press operation to join our client's team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is workshop-based and involves preparing structural steel components using CNC machinery. Overtime is available during busy periods, and the role offers long-term employment with consistent hours.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate laser cutting machinery for precision cutting of structural steel plates
* Carry out basic press brake bending work in line with specifications and job orders
* Interpret and work from fabrication drawings and measurements
* Perform quality checks on finished components, ensuring accuracy and consistency
* Assist with workshop duties including material handling, basic housekeeping, and support for other team members
* Maintain machinery and equipment in line with safe operating procedures and workshop standards
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Proven experience operating laser cutting machines and brake press equipment in a steel fabrication or similar environment
* Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Physically fit and able to handle steel materials and manual tasks
* Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
* Strong attention to detail and quality-focused approach
* Ability to work both independently and within a team
* Full Australian working rights and availability to commence within the coming weeks
* Long-term, permanent workshop-based role
* Structured 40-hour weeks, with up to 50 hours during busy periods
* Competitive hourly rate of $40–50/hr depending on experience
