Join us as a Therapeutic Specialist at MacKillop Family Services This position is within the Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) Program, which provides intensive, time-limited care for children or young people in statutory care, addressing complex issues related to abuse, neglect, and separation from family. Therapeutic care is delivered through positive, safe, healing relationships informed by trauma, attachment, and developmental needs.
The Therapeutic Specialist offers therapeutic leadership and trauma-informed interventions based on sound practice and current research, aiming to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families. The role reports to the Principal Practitioner and is part of the Clinical Program.
Position Details This is an ongoing part-time role, working 11.4 hours per week (0.3 EFT), based in Warrnambool within our Therapeutic Residential Care program.
Key Selection Criteria Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and values, and awareness of issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and families. Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or related discipline is essential. Current registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia; a master's level degree in psychology is preferred. Postgraduate training in child, adolescent, and family clinical practice, family therapy, and systemic thinking is strongly preferred.
