Job Description

We are currently seeking a Part-Time Community Support Worker committed to high-quality service to join our client's team located in Sunbury. As a Community Support Worker, your work will begin with interviewing and meeting clients in the community who have requested service. Through speaking with the clients, you will determine eligibility of service and refer cases to department social workers as needed. Essentially, the goal is to link individuals meeting eligibility requirements to needed social services. You will help support the wellbeing of identified individuals by being a liaison and working with other centres and agencies in developing and implementing effective problem solving plans for clients and their families. You will also assist social workers in coordinating departmental services to community social agencies, hospitals, schools, and other resources.
Position Overview
* Assists individuals and their families through emotional support advocacy and guidance in developing and using their own potential to more adequately meet their social, health, emotional, and economic needs
* Determines eligibility for service to meet client needs and refers cases requiring a professional social work assessment to department social workers
* Provides general information and referral services to clients
* Develops, plans, and leads groups of a less complex nature in response to community and client
need, in consultation with centre social workers
* Coordinates, recruits, screens, assigns, and supervises agency volunteers
* Completes case records, statistical data, and monthly reports as well as other written documentation
* Promotes public awareness of centre activities and provides public education activities to community
Job Type: Part-time
Hours: 15 hours per week. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Qualifications
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
* Current Working with Children Check Card (or willingness to obtain)
* Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
* Current Driver's License with no restrictions and a reliable motor vehicle
* Current Senior First Aid/Provide First Aid Certificate
* The ability to demonstrate skills and knowledge working with people experiencing mental illness or have the willingness to take on training
* Relevant experience in the mental health industry or community support
* A proven capacity to deal with challenging issues
* Highly developed innovative and creative thinking abilities, problem solving abilities, compassion, empathy, and professionalism
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to work independently comfortably

Hours: Flexible hours available through a 7 day work week.
Salary: Starting at $23.53/hour
