About This Opportunity
We are seeking Casual Veterinary Nurses to join the team at UQ VETS. The roles will provide high-quality nursing and technical services within the Small Animal Hospital and Equine Hospital, and support the teaching of Undergraduate Veterinary Science and Veterinary Technology students in a clinical environment.
About You
Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing and/or Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) and/or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, plus at least 2 years nursing experience, or equivalent combination of relevant experience/education.
Demonstrated ability to deliver and maintain high standards of professional veterinary nursing.
Comfortable working sole charge nurse on a range of shifts (day, afternoon, overnights, weekends, public holidays). Shift loadings apply outside normal hours.
High level organisational skills with initiative and autonomy.
Good written and oral communication; ability to manage professional and operational relationships with colleagues, clients and students.
Knowledge of ethical requirements and practices relevant to veterinary nursing; knowledge of relevant policies and safety regulations.
Team player with ongoing professional development and willingness to participate in professional service activities (e.g., VNCA, RSPCA, PetPEP).
Possess or be able to apply for a radiation license (where applicable).
The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including right to work in Australia and mandatory immunisations.
Vaccinations and Immunisation
It is a condition of employment that you are immunised against certain vaccine-preventable diseases in accordance with the University's Vaccinations and Immunisation Guidelines. The employee must provide evidence of immunisation against VPDs.
